Why Unemployment in INDIA

Kudos to everyone who found my article, you are at the right place. Kudos to those  who don’t wanna read it and just came here as this link was shared to them. Anyways, a warm welcome to everyone.

Today, we would talk about an important issue which India is suffering with i.e. unemployment, as according to Wikipedia there were 31 million (3.1 crores) jobless people as of September 2018, but that data is official (in the files) so you all know there are much more than that. The latest unemployment rate in India is 12.38% as of 3rd June 2021 which is very high but most of you will say it’s because of pandemic and that’s right so we will be talking about data before pandemic.

First, I would like you to give it a minute or two to actually think that what are the causes of the unemployment. Well, I assume that you must have given it a thought and then you would be reading further. Most of you must have thought about reduction of vacancies in gov't or private sector, lack of skills or infrastructure, scarcity of jobs in the market and you might be blaming political parties as well. I agree that these are the factors but you might have missed one of the most important factors responsible for unemployment in India and that is Overpopulation.

I know you guys don’t enjoy reading articles without examples, so let’s jump to an example right away.

Take example of railway exam,

·       πŸ‘‰ There are over 2.44 crore applicants for this exam for just 1.4 lakh vacancies.

·   πŸ‘‰However, Let’s assume only 80 lakhs to 1 Crore people as others may not appear for the exam or they may not be that competent and would be giving exam just for fun.

·   πŸ‘‰Let’s say out of those 1 crore people 50% are already doing some kind of job (either private or government or business or anything else) so Let’s assume 50 lakhs are already employed.

·    πŸ‘‰So, 50 Lakh remains. Out of those nearly 10-15 lakhs more will get a job as they might be preparing for some other exams as well. I know 10-15 lakhs is bit too much but let’s assume.

πŸ‘‰So still 35-40 Lakhs left. Out of these only 1 lakh will get a job but what about other 34-39 lakh people. They will still be unemployed. That’s the harsh reality

Let me show this with graph, It depicts assumptions made above in graphical form (Out of only appeared candidates).

PS: Real data may vary this is just an assumption

And that's just the the case of one exam, so you can imagine the large number of people who are unemployed.

You might argue that increasing vacancies can solve the problem so let’s assume a hypothetical situation where there are 10 lakh vacancies (Don’t stare at me like a wild cat πŸ™€that’s just an assumption). Still there would be 24-29 lakh people who will be left unemployed and that’s a huge number.

That’s why I wonder what if the competition was only among 10-15 lakh people, then it would have been much better. You will only see this number when we will look into the issue of overpopulation.

I don’t know why people cannot think of this issue or rather they refrain from getting into this debate, may be because there are some people who relate it to religion and even politics play a role in this but this concern needs to be raised otherwise it will always trouble India.

You should have a good luck line, or you should be extraordinary to survive here. If you are ordinary with no luck line then it’s just pathetic, there is no survival, you will always have to struggle in the current scenario.

So in conclusion I would like to say that first issue of overpopulation should be handled, some of the other issues like unemployment will be resolved automatically or with minimum effort.

If you can think of other solutions which are practically possible, you can always head on to comment section, I would definitely like to read your answers.

Also if you have some suggestions for me feel free to give them in comment section.

  2. Very well written article, focusing the current scenario of unemployment, it's burning topic. Only way to deal with unemployment is to learn some skills and don't hesitate to do any kind of job. One should never think of doing a white collar job just because he or she is a graduate
